Meet Results

Woodbourne hosted a great meet this past Saturday. Congratulations to several of our team members who competed in their first swim meet ever! We also had a number of individuals qualify for the Ken Caryl Invitational, as well as the State Championships. We won the meet 715 to 355. The best part was watching our team members cheer for each other, shake hands, and set a high standard of sportsmanship. Well done, team! Individual meet results can be found on our SwimTopia website. I have also attached the meet results.

Home Meet

We have a home meet this Saturday, June 12th. ALL team members are welcome to participate. This is a good meet for those who may be new to swimming competition, since we will be at our own pool. If your swimmer is in the 8 & under age group and just starting out, then we suggest trying the 25 free. Please note that there are 6 & under 25 free and 25 back novice events, which means that there are no disqualifications in these events. Please see any coach if you have questions.

Please be sure to follow the warm-up schedule, as when we have our whole team present there are too many swimmers to put in the pool at once.

6:00-6:20 am:11 and older

6:20-6:30 am: 9-10 year olds

6:30-6:40am: 8 & unders with last names A-J

6:40-6:50am: 8 & unders with last names K-Z.

Buddy Forms

If you have not filled out and returned your get-to-know me forms for each of your buddies, please do so this week. You can bring them to practice and give them to Coach Meagan. The form is attached.

Swim Caps for Sale

We have latex team caps for sale for $5 each. Please see Coach Meagan if you would like one.

Family Files

Each family has a file folder where ribbons, picture orders, and other items can be picked up. The file boxes will be set out on the tables at the pool each morning. Be sure to check them regularly!

Photos

Many pictures were taken at the meet and many more will be taken at all upcoming meets and events. To access them, click on the Meet/Event Photos tab on the Home page of the website. This will take you to the link to the Gator Shutterfly account where the pictures are stored. If you are new to the team, you will need to be granted permission to join the Gator account first before you can view the pictures. This protects the photos from being viewed by anyone outside the team. You are also able to load any photos that you take during team events onto the site.

Movie Night

Mark your calendars for team movie night on June 21st. This is one of our favorite team traditions. Gather your friends and family, bring blankets and snacks, and join us to watch a movie under the stars. We will communicate the details as soon as they are finalized.

Idea of the Week - Leadership

Here are a few questions that we will consider as a team this week:

What is a leader? What qualities make for a good leader? How can you be a leader?

Good leaders influence others in a positive way. They build up, encourage, and inspire others. Who gets to be a leader? On our team, every member has the opportunity to be a leader. You lead when you encourage your lane mates during a difficult set or are quick to give your attention when a coach is speaking. You lead by setting an example of sportsmanship when you shake hands with a competitor or thank a meet volunteer. Sometimes an act of leadership can seem like a small thing that goes unnoticed, but these acts add up and set the tone for who we are as a team. When our individual members act as positive leaders, our team becomes a leader in our swimming league and our community.

We are looking forward to another great week! See you at the pool.

Coach Meagan and Coach Avery
