June 6th Meet Results

We had a great meet at home this past Saturday. It was the first swim meet for many of our 8 & unders and they did a great job! We saw our team members shaking hands and wishing other competitors good luck. Great work demonstrating positive sportsmanship Gators! We won the meet 706 to 488. Meet results can be found on the right sidebar of our SwimTopia homepage.

June 19th Meet

Our next meet is on Saturday, June 19th at Platte Canyon. Unfortunately, the Platte Canyon pool has experienced some maintenance challenges. Their grounds are currently under repair and there are open trenches where these are taking place. As a result, the deck space is limited and in order to ensure the safety of all athletes and spectators, the facility has set capacity limits. We have been asked to limit our swimmers to 100. At this time, we will leave sign-up for the meet open and allow anyone who wishes to enter do so. For reference, we had exactly 100 team members participate in this past weekend’s meet. If we reach the 100 swimmer limit entries will be closed. Thank you for your understanding.

Idea of the Week - Excellence

What does it look like to strive for excellence in all we do? What might happen if you were striving for excellence at practice every day?

Excellence is not a specific standard; it is more like a moving target. If you are striving to be excellent then you are giving your very best in the moment and working to be better than you were yesterday, or better than you were at the last meet, or better than you were on the last practice set. Some ways to strive for excellence in swimming, and other areas of life include:

  • Setting goals – having something that you are working toward and take action to reach those goals
  • Working hard – giving your best every race, set, lap, and stroke
  • Developing positive habits – some habits include being on time, listening well, never quitting before you are done
  • Learning – watching people who are better or faster than you and asking questions

We are looking forward to another great week!
