Gator News #6 - 7/4/21
Virtual Meet vs BC & PC
Great job this past week racing in the virtual meet. It is not always easy when the teams competing are not together, but we had many teammates swim best times. The Gators won the meet with 654.5 points!
Endurance Challenge/ Swim Across America
This Wednesday, July 7th is our annual Endurance Challenge and team breakfast. How many laps can you swim in one hour? We encourage each team member to set a goal. Remember, a lap is down and back (50 meters). How many miles do you think we can swim as a team? Please see our team site for the breakfast sign-up.
Event schedule:
7:00 - 8:00 am……….…… all 11 & over swimmers
8:00 - 9:00 am……….…… all 10 & under swimmers
9:00 – 9:30 am………….… breakfast
The Endurance Challenge has special meaning this year as we partner with Swim Across America Denver (SAA) to raise money to help fund cancer research at Children’s Hospital Colorado. There is no cost to participate, and participation is not required. If you choose to join you can click the link below to see our team site. From there click the “register” button in the middle of the page and “join a team”. Type in Governor’s Ranch Gators and complete the registration form. The site helps you set up a donation page where you can share your Endurance Challenge lap goal and email friends and family. For extra fun, SAA provides prizes to fundraisers. You can continue fundraising for two weeks after our Endurance Challenge event. If you would rather not fundraise, but would like to make a donation, you can do so by following the link below and clicking “donate” in the middle of the page. Type in Governor’s Ranch Gators to find our team. Please see the attached flier for additional information on Swim Across America.

Water world
Our team trip to Water World is this Thursday, July 8th! Bring your friends and family and enjoy a day in the sun. You can purchase discount tickets through our Calypso Club membership. Tickets can be purchased through this site all summer, not just for our team event. Be sure to print the tickets before you arrive and bring them with you. The water park opens at 10 am. The Gators try to put their stuff in one location and sit together for lunch in the covered picnic shelters south of the North Shore wave pool located to the west of the concessions area. Please note, all families are responsible for the transportation and supervision of their children. Many of the coaches will be there and love to hang out with the swimmers, but they are not on duty while at Water World.
We will have a modified practice on Thursday, July 8th before the Water World trip:
6:45 – 8 am 11 & older
8- 9 am 10 & under

Dual Meet at Bear Creek
Our final dual meet of the season will be at the Bear Creek Swim and Tennis Club on Saturday, July 10th. Event sign-up is now open.
League Championships
The League Championship meet will be held at Governor’s Ranch pool. Prelims are Friday, July 16th. ALL members of the team are eligible to participate. Swimmers may choose their events. No relays will be swum at prelims. The top 16 athletes in each event will continue to finals on Saturday, July 17th. A few things to note:
- There will be 6 & under events at prelims, but not finals. If you have a 6 & under who would like the chance to advance to finals, please enter him/her in 8 & under events.
- Events with fewer than 16 may/may not swim at prelims in order to manage the timeline of the meet. Coaches will be notified once the meet has been seeded of any events in question. If all coaches agree not to swim an event at prelims, all swimmers entered in that event will automatically advance to finals.
Please see the attached information sheet for additional details.
Banquet
Our end of season banquet will be held August 15th at 10 am. We will celebrate another great swim season with brunch and an awards ceremony. All team members will be recognized. More detailed information to follow.
July Bonus Week
Due to the way our meets fell on the calendar this season, we have no meets in the last week of July, but we still have the pool for practice. We will continue to offer practice July 26th – July 30th for team members. We will likely combine workouts with some fun swimming games and challenges. If you think you would like to attend please RSVP using the link below so we know how many coaches we need to have scheduled. Thank you!
