Gator Bytes 6/8/25

Hello Gator Families!

We had an incredible meet Saturday at home! We won our meet, beating Grant Ranch and Woodbourne GVR:1217/GR:790/WB:597. Once again we had swimmers earning PR's and State and KCI qualifying times! Many of our 12 and under swimmers earned times that qualify for the Gold League Championship meet! Thank you so much to all of you who volunteered, we cannot run a meet like that without you!

Our next meet is this Saturday, June 14th. We will be swimming a dual meet at Columbine Knolls. The meet sign up is open, please make sure you submit the races your swimmer will be competing in by 11 am on Wednesday in order to participate.

Team Pictures: Our team pictures this year will be this Tuesday, June 10th. Our team picture will be at 8 am so please make sure you are there and ready before then. Please fill out your order form (attached) and bring it with you to picture day. Here are your photo options:

5x7 Photo Print (Team, Individual or Sibling) - $20

For purchase please total your package options (no tax or delivery fees) and bring this flyer to picture day. Please venmo laura-hatch-12 with “Gator Photos_Last Name” or deliver a check to Laura Hatch Photography by Tuesday, June 10th at 8:00am.

We will still hold practice on this day with some slight modifications: The White group will end practice before 8am for the group photo. The Purple group will begin practice immediately following the group photo and do their individual pictures after practice. The Green group will do individual photos following the group photo, and then practice at their normal time.

Water Polo: Coach Ralph will be running our first session of water polo this Tuesday after pictures for our White group. If your child is interested please have them stay and try it out!

Iron Man and Swim Goals: It can be important to set swim goals with your child. These goals vary for each swimmer based on their abilitieslp. For some it might be to qualify for KCI or State, for some it could be to complete a particular stroke without disqualifying, or for our younger swimmers it might be just to participate in a meet! Talk to your kids about what their swim goals are this season, and help them set some realistic goals for themselves and work towards them. They can also tell their coaches at practice what their goals are so they can help them as well. We wanted to mention our Iron Man Award, which they can earn by completing legally (not disqualifying) every stroke available for their age group at some point during the season. This is a great way to try new events, and challenge themselves!

Swim History in SwimTopia app: In the SwimTopia app there is a section where you can view all of your swimmer(s) prior swim times. However, the default is for the times to be for 25 yard pools, not 25 meter pools. All the pools we swim in are meters, not yards. So the times look faster than what they actually are. To change to the correct size of pools just follow these steps:

Click on your swimmer's name > "Swim History" > "Converted" > "Course" > Select "Short Course Meters (SCM)" > "Done" > "Done"

Ongoing reminders:

  • Sign up for volunteer shifts if you haven't yet, every family must choose 4.
  • Each week we will set out a box of folders at practice where you will find the ribbons your swimmer earned at the meet as well as anything else we need to get to you.

Please reach out if you have any questions!
